One of the impressive architectural monuments in Grodno is the Francis Xavier Church and the Monastery of Jesuits. In old times they were the most richest in all Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth and occupied a huge area in the center of the city. They include - library, pharmacy, Collegium and other objects.
Church was consecrated in 1705 with the presence of Augustus II, and Peter I.
There are 13 altars in the church. Main - is wooden. Was made in 1736 in late baroque style. The temple is decorated with frescoes (XVIII century) and sculptures.
In one of the towers there is a huge clock. Its unique mechanism was made in XV century, but it still working. Certainly, its the oldest working clock in Europe.
