Holy-Pokrovsky Cathedral, located in the old part of the city, is not only a religious but also a memorial building as built in 1904-1905 in memory of the officers and lower ranks of the Russian army who died in the Russian-Japanese war. The cathedral served as a garrison church.
Grodno Holy-Pokrovsky Cathedral is an architectural monument of the neo-Russian style, is decorated with numerous domes and moldings.
Today, the temple is the current Orthodox Church. The church most revered shrines are an icon of "Holy Virgin of Kazan", relics of the child-martyr Gabriel Zabludovski, as well as icons of the XIX century.
The temple also has a copy of the Cross of Euphrosyne of Polotsk. Cross of Euphrosyne of Polotsk - beautiful work of arts and crafts in Belarus, one of the oldest relics of the national culture, was lost during the WWII. In the late 1990s, a cross has been recreated from the drawings and memoirs of contemporaries.
