Krakow's Crown Treasury & Armoury provides a delightful journey into the world of the luxurious, eccentric and ruthlessly violent. It containing Poland’s very own equivalent of the Crown Jewels among its numerous wonders.
The Crown Treasury features several glass cases of golden goblets, platters, coins and other marvels, including Szczerbiec - the country’s original coronation sword - the ultimate highlight.
Armoury contains a wealth of weaponry including some exceedingly swanky crossbows and a frightening array of pikes, while the cellar holds a collection of cannons and replicas of the banners captured at the Battle of Grunwald.
The exhibition is located on the ground floor of the north-eastern corner of the castle. It is related to the historic institution of the Crown Treasury once located here, which was a visible sign of the independence of the Kingdom of Poland, and later of the Commonwealth of the Two Nations.
Crown Treasury & Armoury is one of the must-see spots on the Wawel Hill.
