Sendai Public Garden was founded in the Belarusian capital in 2002. It's a place where you can immerse yourself in the atmosphere of the Japanese city of Sendai (Minsk's sister city). Located close to the Belarusian State Musical Theatre. This park was established as a token of strengthening of the friendly relations between Belarusian and Japanese people. Constructions and plants, located within the park, are not typical for the nature and architecture of Minsk.
The square is well-known and notable for:
- various kinds of sakura
- bridges made with real bamboo
- fountains, made in the traditional form of decorative masks.
The clock has a special meaning: double dial of which shows both Mink and Sendai time. It’s the gift which Sendai presented to Minsk. The Clock represents a classic Japanese version of street clocks from company «CITIZEN», which are solar powered. There’s a decorative bronze sculpture «Batlejka» is installed in the park. Ancient Belarusian characters are depicted there such as theater dolls made in traditional grotesque style.
