The Column is one of the oldest monuments in Kyiv and located at the foot of the Volodymyrsky Hill. Column of Magdeburg Law in Kyiv is also called the monument of the christening of Rus and the Bottom Monument to Volodymyr.
Over 1,000 years ago, according to legends, there was a stream where Prince Volodymyr christened his sons. Until the end of the 18th century, chapels, small churches and springs of Holy water were built in this place.
From the Column to the embankment leads an underground passage. The passage itself is decorated with drawings of Kyiv, and the embankment - with reliefs.
