Monument to the 1000th Anniversary of Brest was erected in 2009 at the intersection of Gogolya and Sovetskaya streets through donations of citizens and means of the city. Total height is about 15 meters.
The monument is conceived as a model of the city, expressed in the historical images (Prince Vladimir Vasilkovich, Grand Duke of Lithuania Vytautas and Radziwill, Nikolay Cherny), and also in generalized images of the people of the city (chronicler, soldier, mother). All figures are placed under the cover of the guardian angel.
There are 6 historical stories here: legend about the foundation of the city, construction of the city, participation in the battle of Grunwald, printing of the Brest Bible, the defense of the Brest fortress in 1941, space exploration.
From the first days of its existence, the monument "was stand out": in the inscriptions were made in total of 75 spelling mistakes!
