The memorial complex "Trostenets" in Minsk is built on the site of the concentration camp of the same name, that was there during the WWII. Camp "Trostenets" is the fourth in the number of people killed in it after the infamous Auschwitz, Treblinka and Majdanek. It is the largest death camp on the territory of Belarus and the former Soviet Union. There have been killed civilians and prisoners of war from all over the Soviet Union, as well as citizens of Austria, Germany, Czechoslovakia and Poland.
The central monument of memorial complex - "The Gates of Memory", the 10-meter bronze sculpture with figures of emaciated prisoners of Nazi camp. By the "gate" is a "Memory Road", avenue, along which there are granite slabs with information on all the places of mass extermination of people in the occupied territories of Belarus.
