The National Academic Bolshoi Opera and Ballet Theatre of the Republic of Belarus has started a new life after the renovation that finished in 2009.
Now there is a building of a pastel shade, that goes so well with the color scale of the city, a cozy park and full of fountains. Its insides have changed as well: Soviet symbols were substituted by luxurious interior design. The theatre’s repertoire allows to experience hundreds of various stories in the form of ballet or opera. There are some classics: "Nabucco", "Carmen", "Eugene Onegin", "Aida", "Carmina Burana", "Swan Lake", as well as works of Belarussian authors — "Old legend", "Vitovt", "King Stakh's Wild Hunt". Younger audience has not been overlooked as well: they have "Winnie-the-Pooh and everyone", "Snow White and seven dwarves", etc.
Despite the fact that ballet and opera are not mean for masses, the theatre enjoys incredible popularity — to buy a ticket here one should book them well in advance.
If you just walk there, you can spend some time in the surrounding park area and also find Monument to Ballet Dancers near the stage door.
